REVIEW BY STEVEN AZAMI
“Born Loser" from Spartacus Jones, is a throwback to a time when songs actually meant something and strived for social change. Nice slinky, sultry blues groove. I liked the way (he) built up to it, first with the snaps, and then with the bass. Vocals sound good, it's a quality mix. Love the sax, especially the solo section
I feel like the strength of this track, is the quality of the performance. The song provides a great vehicle for the playing and the vocal performance. It sits in the pocket well. The lyrics contain some clever wordplay, I particularly liked the rhyme scheme in the second verse. Messaging is crystal clear

BORN LOSER
The current situation is a mystery
Unless you take a little look at history.
You can feel it in the air; you can hear it in the blues
Billie sang us all about it and it's still the news.
How shall I say it?   I don't want to be crude.
But the rich get richer and the poor get screwed.

It doesn't matter if you're Black or White,
Red or Yellow, it's the same damn fight

'Cause you're a born loser.
A born loser like me.
And we better get together or we're never ever gonna be free.

Social institutions are for massive distribution
Of spiritual pollution and mental prostitution.
The end of persecution and crushing destitution
Is a little retribution and a lot of restitution.
Glacial evolution ain't no substitution
When the only true solution is a fucking revolution.

It doesn't matter if you're Black or White,
Red or Yellow, it's the same damn fight
'Cause you're a born loser.
A born loser like me.
And we better get together or we're never ever gonna be free.
